The Siberian is beautiful, smart, noble, strong and attracts a lot of attention from the public. But what the public does not understand is their overwhelming need to exert energy, their ability to figure out how to escape from the back yard, and their need for companionship!!
A Siberian can not be left alone unsupervised, off-leash or expected not to get into mischief while you are at work!! This breed is a dangerous combination of energy, intelligence, and one of the greatest athletes you will ever see!!
Being owned by a Siberian Husky should not be taken lightly and there are questions you should ask yourself before you decide on this breed!! First ask yourself, "Am I willing to accommodate everything this breed needs??" Being owned by a Siberian can be a life changing experience. This breed needs a large HUSKY-PROOF fenced area to run!! One walk a day or a stroll to the dog park will not even begin to tire out a Siberian. Siberians need a family who jogs, hikes, camps, etc!! A good Siberian is a tired Siberian!!
"Is someone home at all times to supervise our husky??". Siberians need to be mentally stimulated and working that brain of theirs or they will become bored and find their own entertainment. Whether it be eating the couch or climbing a 6ft fence!!! A Siberians need their family or another dog to socialize with at all times. They are pack animals and need companionship. If you want a dog who will guard your house, not dig holes in your gardens, or you enjoy a hairless carpet this is DEFINITELY not the breed for you!!
But if you truly feel this does not deter you from the Siberian then let me welcome you to our extended Husky family who takes great pride and joy in being owned by the most beautiful, smartest, friendliest and most perfect dog in the world!!
